Department of Biochemistry


BIOCHEMISTRY is that branch of science that explores the structure and function of all living organisms at the molecular level. Biochemistry finds application in clinical , forensic science , in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Biochemists are contributing to advances in a wide variety of areas including health, agriculture and the environment. Therefore in 1999 an initiative was taken to open the Department of Biochemistry at C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur. After this on September 21, 1999 Department of Biochemistry was inaugurated by the eminent scientist of Biochemistry Dr. S.N. Dixit, Professor Emeritus, Chicago, U.S.A.

The aim of this Department is to provide a good education to its students so that they can achieve success in today's competitive world . Hard working students of this department have brought laurels as they are regularly qualifying various competitive exams like C.S.I.R. (JRF/LS)NET, G.A.T.E. and I.C.M.R. as well as getting good jobs in various Biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Some of the students are extending their knowledge by joining PhD in various institutes of INDIA and abroad.

Department is also sending the students to various Institutes of INDIA every year for summer training so that they can get exposed to various new and advanced fields of biochemistry and get real practical knowledge.
